Day 3 of MVM23 - Master of Unlocking


Today started out great when I logged into MVM’s Discord and saw Craig Henderson offering his musical talents to help out in the MVM gamejam. I reached out via DM and long story short, he’s now on board with Kitsune Plaza! 💪🏻

I spent most of the day creating the scenes of the first level of the tower. No detailed spritework. Just laying out the basic scene structure with a placeholder tilemap. I then messed around with getting keycards to work. That took a bit more time than I expected but it’s working now, plus I learned more about how GB Studio handles collision.

Now, I too am a Master of Unlocking, just like Jill Valentine!

On my To Do list next is continue building the rest of the levels based on the map I shared yesterday, starting with the elevator that takes the player up to where the action really starts.

I might also work on making a minimap you can access by pressing Select, as well as look into building a HUD for health and special items that stays at the top of the screen.
